Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough - or you’re beyond relaxed already - you won’t feel much.
After a few minutes, the tingling sensation fades into a deep, relaxing warmth. The redness is purely a circulation boost. You might even fall asleep.

Lying on spikes is weird, so we made sure this is the perfect place to start. Expect a balance of initial discomfort and deep release. Ideal for anyone new to acupressure.Level 2
For the bold and brave. Fewer spikes = more discomfort, so commit to pushing through to unlock the deeper release on the other side if you are contemplating Level 2.Level 3
Our deepest release isn’t the last stop on your journey - it’s only for the most experienced. Expect a serious sensation to start, with plenty of reward if you can handle it. -

I love my shake mat but the pillow needs to be better. I had high expectations and it is a bit of a let down. Also one of the pillows pointers came literally came out of the pillow for which I sent an e-mail and a resolution was provided but it shouldn't be happening with a product which is literally within 2 days or purchase.
I also feel the pillow should be a bit more lower to level my neck with the mat since I feel it is too elevated.

I must come clean: I owned a knock off product up until now and it doesn't come anywhere near to the real thing!. Right out of the box my new Shakti Acupressure Pillow and Shakti Mat Advanced felt more like torture than a treat (as you so eloquently put it in the email), however the torture was only on my fingertips and in my head. The treat started after the first couple of minutes; I stopped breathing heavily, my body relaxed completely and the world seemed perfect for the next 20 minutes. Can't wait for sleep time when I am going to lay on my new Shakti mat and pillow again and drift off to sleep ever so peacefully!

I had been looking at this mat for a loooooong time. I was curious but skeptical at the same time. The minute i found someone that had tried it i immediately ordered it.
The reviews of people falling asleep left me doubtful but lo and behold the first time i tried it i fell asleep on it. That’s the treat part… peeling myself off after is quite the torture but it’s short lived and sooo worth it!

I feel the worst part is trying to sit up after 20 mins of chilling, as you sit up the pressure builds on the lower back spikes, I end up either rolling off or sitting up super fast!!!!
