The Shakti Difference

When you invest in The Shakti® Mat, you are helping more people than you probably realize! Thank you!

The Shakti® Charity Factory

We take pride in our corporate social responsibility by investing directly into the community that produces The Shakti® Mats. We do this through a charity operation where our Shakti® Mats are made, the temple factory in the holiest city in India - Varanasi. Perhaps the oldest city in the world, where the sacred fires have burnt for thousands of years, we integrate devotion and work. The temple factory is built according to Vastu Shastra, which is the origin of Feng Shui, to fill the temple with harmony. All employees are women and we support them with good salaries, good working hours, good working conditions, meals and holiday pay. We also provide employees and their families with free health care and maintain a clean and happy working environment. Each mat sold directly supports these women and provides jobs they would not otherwise have.

Each employee yogini, has been initiated in Mantra Yoga. Through rituals and mantras to the Divine Mother Shakti, The Shakti® Mat is created. "Shakti" means the Goddess of infinite compassion and love. The Shakti® Mat is not only produced to work on the physical plane, but is created in awareness and compassion, so that every cell of the user vibrates in harmony. Our intention is to create harmony for everyone that comes in contact with The Shakti® Mat, from all stages in creation, all the way to the consumer.

All our mats are organic cotton, natural plant dyes and high quality foam.We use non-toxic, fully recyclable ABS plastic (the same plastic Lego is made of) for the spikes. This is a hard and durable plastic that keeps the spikes sharp through many years of regular use.

We value people <3

Shakti Love Project is our official Canadian community outreach program where we support various organizations in need around the country. Our support is given in a variety of ways from financial contributions, to fundraising events and to donated time or resources, among others.

We believe that it is important to give back to our community in meaningful ways and even though our business model is already set up to support our very own charity factory in Varanasi, India, it was important to us to also support our local communities as well.

The Shakti® Mat is the only acupressure mat on the market developed by a Vedic-trained massage therapist. All in all, The Shakti® Mat offers you quality, longevity, sustainability and social peace!

The Design

The Points

There are approximately 6,200 points on The Original Shakti® Mat. Each plastic disc has 27 points and a hollow middle and they are placed in a geometric pattern called a Yantra (in Sanskrit). A yantra literally means a "machine" and yantras are used in various forms to help achieve specific outcomes during meditation. For more in-depth information about Yantras, visit the Isha website as they provide great information!

It is believed that the geometry of the yantra created by the spikes stimulates the acupressure points of the body like a whirlpool. The flow of Chi (prana/life-force energy) increases between the points, which in turn balances and supplies the weaker parts of our body with energy.

The Colours

ORANGE - The orange colour of the Tangerine Shakti® Mat gives energy, satisfaction and warmth. It has a positive effect on the consciousness, as it yields an open and more accepting mind.

GREEN - The colour green of the Avocado Shakti® Mat gives calm and harmony. It is a healing colour. It is also a colour full of life, as you can see when you look around in any landscape. Green is the colour of the heart chakra, Anahata. It yields balance to body and soul.

The Decorative Adornments

The back of The Shakti® Mat is adorned with a beautiful design called a Yantra. This particular symbol is called the Sri (pronounced "Sh-ree") Yantra and in the yoga tradition, it is considered to be the most complete geometric shape.  It is composed of 5 downward-facing triangles, representing the feminine energy Shakti, and 4 upward-facing triangles, representing the masculin energy Shiva. All 9 interlocking triangles create 43 smaller triangles and each one of these smaller triangles represents a deity associated with a certain aspect of the existence. These triangles are further surrounded by two circles of lotus petals with the whole encased within a gated frame, called the "earth citadel". For more information on Sri Yantra, here are some great websites to check out:

Through stimulating both masculine and feminine energy, the power of creation and consciousness united, both halves of the brain too are stimulated and a deep state of meditation can be reached.
