Shakti Mats with Yoga & Meditation

Shakti Mats are the perfect tool to enhance your yoga and meditation practice.  In yoga we often hear the teacher speak about concepts such as "grounding ourselves" and being present and aware.  Teachers often direct us to draw our attention "inward" and to notice what we notice.  But what if we have no idea what feelings or sensations we are looking for?  What if we have no idea what it feels like to be grounding ourselves?

Here's what to do:

  • Use with any standing pose, use to practice focus on deep breathing to target the feet.
  • Use with any pose where seated with the legs extended to target the back of the legs.
  • Use with any pose where seated with the legs extended, lying on front to target the tops of the legs.
  • Use with any pose where seated with the legs extended, lying on side to target the side of the legs.
  • Use with seated poses and in meditation to target the glutes and focus the mind.
  • Use with any yoga poses lying on the front to target the belly.
  • Use with any yoga poses lying on the back where the focus is on pressing the low back into the mat to target the low back.
  • Use with any pose lying or twisting on your side to target the side body.
  • Use with any yoga poses done lying on the back where the focus is on the neck and shoulders to target these areas.
  • Use with any pose done on the hands to target the hands.
  • Use with any pose laying on your belly, resting on your forearms to target this area.
  • Use with any yoga poses done on the belly where the chest stays on the mat to target the chest.
  • Use with any pose where face in near/on the mat to target the face.
  • Use with any pose where the head rests on the mat or with any head balancing pose to target the head.
