When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.
Its shape is also perfect for releasing tension in hard-to-reach curves, and you can rest your face against the spikes for a subtle sensation.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.

Great shaped pillow
This pillow is fantastic - with the padding in it (like a normal pillow) it allows you to position it either at the back of your neck or the side, compared to the other version pillow (I have both) that is more like a log (still really good but I prefer this one). I’ve used it even sitting on the lounge for my upper back and have fallen asleep with it at night - would highly recommend.

Wonderful coverage
The shape of the pillow allows for your jaw to relax fully, and it's contouring to cover the neck and upper back is really lovely, it really makes a difference to the relaxation and ability of how long you can stay on the mat for - I've been able to use it for an hour with wonderful results. Spikey goodness
For the past years I've been a regular at the fysio. I've been dealing with extreme stiffness due to MS. Especially in my neck and lower back. The shakti mat and pillow have been a real gamechanger. After the 20min is feels like I had a massage and this overall light feeling. Offcourse I still need my fysio but this has been a great supplement for me.
